The USA-Honduras World Cup qualifier broadcast situation, which has gone well beyond the USA-Mexico version on the debacle scale, is slowly resolving. Mediapro, the company that purchased the rights from the Honduran federation in both English and Spanish, is currently selling closed circuit packages to bars and restaurants. There is now a website with a list of the bars where the game is available, and to say it's depressing would be a massive understatement.
No concrete numbers are being reported on price, though rumors have bars being faced with as much as a $3000 bill to show the game. That number is likely affected by the number of TVs an establishment has, and will therefore vary.
As of the moment, only four establishments are listed on the website; two in California (San Diego and San Francisco), one in Chicago, and one in Albany, New York.
While some have suggested a boycott of the game in protest of the CCTV situation, I doubt seriously that it would have any affect on how the rights are handled. If you do want to see the game, and know of a bar or restaurant with a strong pro-soccer attitude, I suggest you give them a call as soon as possible.
The game is just over a week away.
