Jermaine Jones has resumed training with his Bundesliga club after months of injury setbacks. The German-American midfielder, whose USMNT debut after a FIFA-allowed switch earlier this year yet to materialize, took to the field on Tuesday.

Jones' return comes roughly three weeks before the league's annual winter break, which begins on December 19th and ends on January 16th. On November 12th it was determined that Jones would not suit up for Schalke in 2009 in an effort to get him fully healthy. The winter break will give Jones time to return to fitness, meaning that his season debut should come in the last weeks of January.

Speculation over Jones' potential role in the US team in 2010 is likely to ramp up now, though it still remains unknown if Bob Bradley will want to shake up his team by inserting a player who has never appeared for the United States at any level.

American fans will continue to clamor for Jones to finally get his US look, so it may behoove Bradley to find a way to get him on the field before June's World Cup team is fully formed.

Does this news mean that we will finally get to see Jones play and Bob Bradley address his availability? Remember that international dates between now and June are few, and that Jones will not likely have an opportunity to experience an American camp (crucial to his integration on a chemistry level) before the World Cup.
