If you're at all interested in the ongoing saga with America and Canada's second division, you need to go to the 24th Minute right now. Duane has some solid information there resulting from discussions with the people on the inside at the Canadian Soccer Association.
File this under "not good" for the NASL group. US Soccer desperately wants to avoid any litigation, and with USL "threatening to sue everyone", the situation is at critical mass. Despite FIFA's hesitancy to do so in regards to the MLS labor negotiations, I have no doubts that they will step in if any of this ends up in court.
Duane's report backs up other information floating around the web, including what Brian Quarstad of Inside Minnesota Soccer has related regarding the precarious stance of the NASL. The league needs US Soccer sanctioning, though it's unclear if they are willing to forge ahead without it.
It's late, so I apologize for the short treatment. Hopefully I'll have more to pass along, plus commentary, tomorrow.
