Seattle's Other Freddie Scores

Seattle is, as of this exact moment, the best team in MLS. Good for them, and let's hope the Montero situation doesn't derail either his career or his team.

The other Freddie, Mr. Ljungberg, scored his first MLS goal for the Sounders, as they soundly (no pun intended) beat Toronto 2-0 at BMO Field.

My feeling was that Seattle would have great home form and struggle on the road; if they play like they did today, canceling out the best home crowd in the league, they should be in the hunt for a top playoff spot all season.

There is some age and some inexperience that could cause issues later on, so every point they can get now will be important.

Ljungberg looked good, as did Kasey Keller. The younger players, Steve Zakuani included, looked dangerous. Seattle might be the real deal, or this might just be an early season run that will eventually fade into a more typical expansion team debut season.

Either way, they are for the moment, the best in MLS. The rest of the league should watch out.

Now let's see them win on grass.
